A dramatic scene happened on NJ-17 in Bergen County late Friday night when a pickup truck caught fire after being involved in a multi-vehicle collision.The incident, which occurred around 11 p.m. near Franklin Avenue, prompted an immediate response from Hasbrouck Heights police and firefighters.
Upon arriving at the scene, emergency responders found the pickup truck fully engulfed in flames, a startling sight for drivers traveling on the busy highway.
To ensure the safety of the motorists and facilitate the emergency operation, police temporarily closed the northbound lanes at the White Castle's jughandle.
Despite the potential for disaster, authorities reported no severe injuries stemming from the collision or the subsequent fire. One person was taken into custody, reportedly for DWI. The swift action of the firefighters prevented further damage or injury, highlighting the critical role of first responders in maintaining public safety.
The cause of the collision is under investigation, with cleanup efforts underway to restore normal traffic flow on NJ-17.
