Linden – A generous donation from a Linden company will be used to help protect Police Officers working during the COVID-19 global pandemic.
The Phillips 66 Bayway Refinery has pledged to donate $6,000 toward costs associated with the Covid-19 emergency response. The Police Department used the grant to purchase a portable UV-C generator.
Ultraviolet C light effectively kills germs and viruses and is regularly used to disinfect hospitals and laboratories.
Specially trained Police Officers regularly use the light to sanitize Police vehicles and other common areas and to allow for extended use of certain Personal Protective Equipment.
“Our community has faced unprecedented challenges during this pandemic,” said Police Chief David Hart. “Generous and engaged local partners like Phillips 66 ensure that we can adequately protect our emergency responders and effectively continue to serve our community.”

Phillips 66 has donated more than $50,000 to the Police Department since 2018 for items such as an interactive touch monitor, computer and printer for the Linden Police Training/Muster Room, Solar Speed Display and Dangerous Curve signs for Park Avenue, and Radar Speed Displays to help reduce speeding around schools, in conjunction with School Speed Limit signs, and crosswalk repainting and striping.
