The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Newark Police Department are seeking help from the public in identifying a person of interest. On August 3, 2014, at approximately 10:22 p.m., Naim Riker, 34, of Newark was found shot and unresponsive in the area of 180 South 11th Street in Newark. Riker was later pronounced dead at University Hospital. The male pictured in the photograph, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, is a person of interest in connection with this homicide. Anyone who can identify the male is asked to call the Essex County Prosecutors Office tips line at 1-877-TIPS-4-EC or 1-877-847-7432. Calls will be confidential. The Essex County Sheriff’s Crime Stoppers program is offering up to a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for Riker’s death.
