A shooting that caused fatal injuries overnight in Jackson Township is under investigation by authorities.
According to preliminary reports, shots fired reports led police to a wooded area in the vicinity of Indiero Road and West Fish Road before 11:15 p.m. where they arrived to find an unconscious and unresponsive person suffering an apparent gunshot wound to the chest.
Medics pronounced the victim dead a short time later.
Police set up a crime scene where they searched the area for evidence to support the official cause of the incident.
There were no reports of suspects sought or arrests made at this time.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
