An unconscious, unresponsive, and unidentified person found inside a downtown Newark coffee house was pronounced dead on Friday evening.
Official details regarding the incident has not been released by police and are pending a public information request but according to preliminary reports, police responded to the Starbucks in the 600 block of Broad Street at approximately 7:55 p.m. after receiving reports of an injured person.
Police and EMS arrived at the scene found the person who they pronounced at the scene according to reports.
Authorities believe that the individual's death was due to a medical condition and they have not officially ruled out a possible narcotics overdose. There were no reports of foul play.
The State Regional Medical examiners office was called to the scene to assist in the investigation.
A request for information to Starbucks managers was answered and referred all questions to corporate officials at 8:30 p.m.
