Newark Police have arrested Jaunelle McNeal, a.k.a. Curtis Jefferson, 27, for making a false police repor authorities said in a press release.
According to police at approximately 11:40 p.m., on July 27, 2016, McNeal arrived at University Hospital suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound.
Officers responded and interviewed McNeal, who provided his alias and reported that he had been robbed and shot on Stratford Place in Newark police said.
Following an intense investigation, detectives determined that Curtis Jackson was, in fact, Jaunelle McNeal of Pittsburgh, PA.
The investigation revealed that McNeal had an outstanding arrest warrant for robbery in Kittanning, PA. Further, police in Allentown, PA reported that McNeal had been shot on July 27, 2016 in their town according to police.
Newark Police arrested McNeal on July 27, 2016 without incident.
Along with facing robbery charges in his home state of PA, Newark Police charged McNeal with obstruction of the law and making a false police report.
These charges are merely accusations.
The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
