Pennsylvania Man Arrested for July 4th Shooting Death in Trenton

Acting Mercer County Prosecutor Theresa L. Hilton and Trenton Police Director Steve Wilson announced on Friday that an investigation by the Mercer County Homicide Task Force (MCHTF) and the Trenton Police Department has led to the arrest of a Pennsylvania man in connection with the fatal shooting of Amir Williams.

Mr. Rashawn Ford, 37, of Morrisville, Pennsylvania, has been charged with first-degree murder, first-degree attempted murder, two counts of aggravated assault, and multiple weapons offenses, including being a certain person not to possess a firearm.AdThe charges stem from an incident on the night of July 4, 2024, when Trenton Police responded to a report of a shooting in progress on the 800 block of Stuyvesant Avenue.

Officers arrived to find Amir Williams, 32, of Trenton, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his torso.

He was transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

During the investigation, a second victim, an adult female, was found to have arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound to her hip.

Ford was apprehended on Wednesday morning, August 28, in Bensalem, Pennsylvania, by the U.S. Marshals New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force. Prosecutors plan to file a motion to detain Ford pending trial.AdThe investigation is ongoing.
