Pedestrian Suffers Broken Bone After Being Struck by Vehicle in Elizabeth

A man suffered a broken bone after being hit by a vehicle last night in Elizabeth.

Officers responded to the 1100 block of Spring Street at approximately 6:16 p.m. for a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle at that location.

Police say the 32-year-old pedestrian, whose name has not yet been released, allegedly sprinted into the roadway as the 65-year-old driver from New York drove on Spring Street.

Police say the pedestrian was transported to University Hospital in Newark with a shoulder and upper arm injuries and a broken bone.

The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

According to police, the driver was not issued a summons.
