Emergency responders provided CPR to a pedestrian struck by a car on a Bergen County highway Saturday morning.
According to police, at approximately 5:22 a.m., police responded to Route 17 north near the split to the Garden State Parkway to investigate reports of a pedestrian down in the roadway.
Upon arrival, police found the severely injured victim at that location.
Officials say the victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition.
The incident remains under investigation.
