A 33-year-old Hopewell Township resident was struck by a motor vehicle Sunday on Hopewell Wertsville Road.The incident occurred at approximately 4:52 PM on Sunday, June 16, 2024, when Hopewell Township Police Communications received a 9-1-1 call reporting the crash.
Upon arrival, officials said officers found that the pedestrian, who was in crisis, had run into the southbound lane and collided with the passenger side of a passing vehicle driven by a 63-year-old Princeton resident. The impact caused the pedestrian to fall, resulting in his right foot being run over by the vehicle.
First responders and Fire/Rescue personnel determined that the pedestrian sustained a compound fracture of his right ankle. He was transported to the hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver cooperated fully with the investigation, and no charges are expected to be filed. The incident is under investigation by Det. Christopher Collins of the Hopewell Township Police Department, with assistance from detectives from the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office.
