Pedestrian Struck by Vehicle That Fled the Scene in Newark

A vehicle that struck a pedestrian leaving them with serious injuries in Newark is under investigation after the driver reportedly sped away from the scene.

Police responded to reports of a pedestrian down at around 10:50 p.m. in the 100 block of 1st Street where units arrived to find the semi-conscious victim suffering serious injuries after being struck by a dark colored vehicle that just kept going according to reports.

The vehicle was reported as a black Dodge Neon that was last scene traveling southbound on 1st Street with a partial reported NJ license plate number "MGV".

The victim was rushed to University Hospital where the extent of their injuries is unknown as of 6 a.m. this morning.
