Police in Newark are looking for several males wanted for leaving the scene of a crash that injured a pedestrian in the city's North Ward Wednesday night.
At approximately 8:22 p.m., an off-duty police officer notified headquarters that a person was struck by a car on Berkeley Avenue and North 5th Street.
When emergency responders arrived at the scene, they found a severely injured male lying on the ground and an unoccupied vehicle that struck the victim at that location.
The male was transported to University Hospital for treatment and was in serious condition.
Police believe three black males bailed from the vehicle and fled the scene on foot.
Authorities have not confirmed if police were pursuing the suspects during the crash.
The investigation remains ongoing, and the suspects are at large.
