City and county authorities are investigating a pedestrian strike that severely injured a person near a college in Newark Thursday night.
At approximately 7:22 p.m., Newark emergency responders were dispatched to the intersection of Market Street and Martin Luther King Boulevard to investigate reports of a person hit by a vehicle.
Upon arrival, police and EMS found a severely injured, unconscious and unresponsive person lying on the ground after a vehicle struck them at that location.
Officials say the unidentified victim was rushed to University Hospital suffering life-threatening injuries.
Newark Police investigated the incident at the scene.
The cause of the collision is under investigation.
