An accident investigation on Interstate 287 in Franklin Township has police attempting to determine how the tractor trailer driver was struck on the highway early this morning.
The incident happened in the northbound lanes of the highway near exit 12 in Franklin Township where emergency responders rushed to the scene at around 4 a.m. on reports of a injured person on the highway.
Arriving crews located the victim suffering serious injuries as they rushed him to an area hospital according to initial reports.
Authorities closed one lane on the northbound side of the highway for the crash investigation.
Earlier in the week, an 85-year-old man was killed on Monday afternoon, almost in the same spot as last night's incident.
Police identified that man as Miroslav Bodnar who resided in the Somerset section of the township.
Bodnar was pronounced dead at the scene authorities said stating they don't know why he was on the roadway.
