Authorities in Ocean County are investigating a pedestrian strike that left a man severely injured in Berkeley Township Friday evening.
At approximately 4:30 p.m., police responded to the westbound lanes of NJ-37 to investigate reports of an injured person.
Police and EMS arrived and found a man lying on the ground suffering severe injuries after a vehicle struck the victim at a high rate of speed.
Police say the 38-year-old man was airlifted to Jersey Shore Medical Center suffering a severe facial injury and bone fractures.
Officers closed a portion of NJ-37 for the crash investigation.
There were no other injuries reported.
