Police conducted an accident investigation on Route 22 after a pedestrian was struck by a car in Mountainside overnight.
It happened before 3 a.m. in the vicinity of US-22 and Locust Avenue where police and EMS found the injured victim lying on the ground after a vehicle struck them at that location.
EMS transported the seriously injured, unidentified person to University Hospital in Newark where doctors began to treat their injuries.
The cause of the incident remains in an active and ongoing investigation.
There were no arrests reported.
