Clifton Police are investigating a serious incident where a pedestrian was struck and severely injured by a vehicle late Saturday night.
The accident occurred around 11:40 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of Route 3 near Main Avenue.
Preliminary reports revealed that emergency responders arrived at the scene and discovered an unconscious and unresponsive individual on the roadway.
The victim, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, sustained severe injuries and was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Due to the investigation, police closed the two right lanes of Route 3, resulting in some congestion for late-night commuters traveling through the area.
Authorities are currently examining the circumstances surrounding the incident and more information will be released as the investigation progresses.
