An ongoing investigation is underway following a collision involving a pedestrian in Middlesex County early Wednesday morning.
The incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. in the southbound lanes of US-1 near Plainfield Avenue in Edison.
Emergency responders were called to the scene after receiving reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.
Upon arrival, they discovered an unidentified individual who had suffered severe injuries as a result of being hit by a car.
In response to the accident, police temporarily closed the affected portion of the roadway to conduct a thorough investigation.
The specific cause of the collision remains undetermined.
The Edison Police Department is asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has relevant information to come forward to assist with the investigation.
