Somerset County authorities are investigating a serious pedestrian collision that left an individual in critical condition on a busy roadway in Branchburg on Wednesday evening.
The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. on US-22 near France Road, where police and emergency medical responders arrived to find an unidentified person lying unconscious and unresponsive on the roadway after being struck by a vehicle.
First responders administered CPR at the scene before transporting the victim to a local medical center. The individual remains in a life-threatening condition.
A fatal crash investigation team was called in to assist with the ongoing inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
