A pedestrian suffered severe injuries after being struck by a vehicle on a busy stretch of Route 9 in Lakewood late Sunday night, according to police.
Emergency crews were dispatched around 9:45 p.m. to the area of US-9 between Oak Street and Broadway following reports of a person hit by a car.
Upon arrival, first responders found the victim unconscious and unresponsive, suffering from serious injuries.
CPR was immediately administered at the scene before the individual was rushed to a nearby hospital. As of 11 p.m., the victim remained in critical condition.
The incident is currently under active investigation.
