Authorities in Bergen County are investigating a pedestrian strike that seriously injured a woman in Edgewater Saturday afternoon. 
At approximately 12:20 p.m., local police and emergency medical services (EMS) were called to the scene in the teens block of Dempsey Avenue following reports of an injured person.
Responders found a female victim on the ground who had been hit by a vehicle.
The circumstances surrounding the collision prompted the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office to arrive and assist with the investigation.
The injured woman was quickly transported to Hackensack University Medical Center for treatment.
Details regarding her current condition have not been disclosed, but she is receiving care for serious injuries sustained in the accident.
The incident is currently under active investigation by local authorities. Further information is expected as the investigation progresses.
