An investigation is underway into an overnight pedestrian strike that left a one person dead in Morristown.
Police and rescue crews responded to reports of an injured person in the area of Madison Avenue and Pitney Place where they located the victim laying on the ground injured and unconscious at that location.
EMS transported the victim to Morristown Medical Center where they were pronounced dead about an hour later.
A preliminary investigation at the scene indicated that the victim was struck by a DOT Pickup truck.
Police closed Rt. 124 at Madison Avenue down in both directions so that detectives could investigate the cause of the incident.
The identity of the victim has not been released at this time.
