NJ State Police officials have launched an active investigation into a pedestrian strike that killed one person on a NJ highway in Burlington County.
According to preliminary reports, police were called to the northbound lanes on the NJ Turnpike near mile marker 51.7 in Mansfield Township to investigate reports of a crash just after midnight.
Units arrived at the scene found an unidentified person laying in the roadway suffering severe injuries after a truck and at least one other car struck the victim at that location according to reports.
Police temporarily closed the outer lanes closed near the inner/outer lane split at exit 6 to investigate the incident.
The official cause is under investigation.
