Middlesex County authorities investigate a pedestrian strike that caused fatal injuries on a highway in Old Bridge on Tuesday night.
Police say at approximately 10:45 p.m., officers responded to reports of an injured person in the 1100 block U.S. 9
When emergency responders arrived at the scene, they found an unidentified, unconscious and unresponsive person suffering severe injuries after a vehicle struck them at that location.
Police said the victim was pronounced dead a short time later.
The highway was shut down as detectives investigated the cause of the incident.
