Morris County authorities are investigating a pedestrian strike that left one person dead in Randolph on Sunday morning.
According to preliminary reports, police were called to the vicinity of Route 10 and Canfield Avenue after they received reports of an injured person at approximately 2 a.m.
Police officers who were close to the scene found the unconscious and unresponsive victim suffering severe injuries after a vehicle struck them at that location.
Medical personnel pronounced the unidentified person dead at the scene according to police.
Authorities closed off a section of Route 10 for the investigation.
The official cause of the incident has not been determined.
