Pedestrian Killed by Car in Early Morning Incident on Route 1 in Linden

A deadly incident took place on a highway in Linden when a 41-year-old man from Windfeld  Park was struck and killed by a vehicle Wednesday morning. Ice CreamAround 1:30 a.m., local police were called to the intersection of US-1 and South Wood Avenue following reports of an injured person on the roadway.

Upon arrival, officers discovered an unidentified individual who had been hit by a vehicle.

Despite immediate response efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident led to the involvement of the Union County Prosecutor's Office. 

The Linden Office of Emergency Management and the Department of Transportation were promptly on the scene to manage the aftermath and ensure safety in the area.

Currently, the incident remains under an active investigation as authorities work to piece together the events leading up to the fatal collision.
