Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Vehicle on Route 19 in Paterson

Authorities in Passaic County announced that  on November 3, at approximately 10:49 a.m., the Paterson Police Department responded to the area of mile marker 2-3 State NJ Route 19 South on a report of a motor vehicle accident which resulted in the death of Manuel Perez, 64 year-old male from Paterson.AdPassaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes stated that it was determined that the victim was struck by a Toyota sedan while he was attempting to hook another vehicle to a tow truck.

The Toyota sedan subsequently struck the tow truck and flipped over, landing on its roof, County officials say.

County officials said the victim was pronounced deceased at approximately 11:40 a.m.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the victim remained on scene and was transported to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center to treat non-life threatening injuries, according to Passaic County authorities. 

Paterson Police said this investigation is active and ongoing and more information will be released when it becomes available.Ad
