Camden County officials are investigating a fatal pedestrian strike that occurred overnight on a busy stretch of roadway in Gloucester City.
According to preliminary information, the incident took place around 2:20 a.m. in the southbound lanes of U.S. Route 130, on the ramp leading to Interstate 76.
Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene after receiving reports of a person struck by a vehicle.
Upon arrival, officers found the victim lying unconscious and unresponsive in the roadway. Life-saving efforts, including CPR, were attempted but ultimately unsuccessful.
The individual was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
In response to the incident, police shut down the two right lanes of the highway while an investigation was conducted.

The cause of the collision remains under active investigation. No other injuries were reported.
Authorities have not yet said whether any charges are expected.
