Hackettstown authorities are investigating a fatal crash in which a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle in front of a CVS Pharmacy on Main Street.
According to police, a 2018 GMC Canyon, driven by a 61-year-old man from Flanders, veered off Route 46 and onto the sidewalk, hitting a pedestrian.
Emergency responders from the Hackettstown Police Department and the Hackettstown First Aid and Rescue Squad arrived at the scene. They transported the victim to Hackettstown Medical Center, where they were later pronounced dead.
The victim’s identity has not yet been released, pending notification of their family.
The driver was also taken to Hackettstown Medical Center for a medical evaluation.
Authorities temporarily closed Route 46 between West Stiger Street and Valentine Street to investigate the crash.
The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.
