NJ State Police officials are investigating a pedestrian strike that caused fatal injuries to a person on I-287 in Somerset County Thursday night.
According to a preliminary investigation, police responded to the northbound lanes of I-287 near I-78 to investigate reports of a pedestrian accident.
Troopers arrived and closed the northbound lanes after finding a severely injured person on the roadway.
The unidentified individual was pronounced dead at the scene.
Circumstances surrounding the fatal pedestrian strike are under investigation.
