The Union Police Department is investigating a serious motor vehicle accident which occurred shortly before 9:30 this morning in the area of 2319 Rt 22 East, near the Point Condo’s and Chick-fil-A.
According to police, the single vehicle/pedestrian collision resulted in the fatality of 67-year-old Edgard Cruz of Union.
Cruz was allegedly attempting to cross all three lanes of Rt 22 East from the Point Condo’s to the Seven Eleven center island and was struck by a black 2015 Chrysler 200 driving in the left hand lane.
The driver of the Chrysler - who remained on scene - was unharmed and is currently cooperating with investigators.
The accident is being investigated by Officer Michael Cocca of the Union Police Department Fatal Accident Unit.
