Authorities in Hudson County announced that the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Union City Police Department are investigating a hit-and-run collision in Union City that critically injured a pedestrian on Saturday, February 22.
Shortly after 9:00 p.m., the Union City Police Department was notified of a pedestrian struck on 17th Street in the area of Bergenline Avenue, according to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez.
Hudson County officials said that responding officers located a female victim, later identified as a 32-year-old Union City resident with serious injuries.
The striking vehicle did not remain at the scene, HCPO authorities say.
According to Hudson County officials, the victim was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center, where she remains in critical condition.
During the preliminary investigation, the vehicle suspected of being involved in the collision was recovered, HCPO authorities stated.
No arrests have been made at this time.
