Paterson Woman Arrested for Stealing Over $100K in Money Order Scam

Authorities in Passaic County announced the arrest of Ms. Leticia Lopez Fernandez, 32 years old, from Paterson.AdPassaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes stated Ms. Lopez-Fernandez was arrested on November 4 after an investigation conducted by the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office Financial Crimes Unit.

Ms. Lopez-Fernandez is charged with one count of second-degree Theft, County officials said. 

According to Passaic County officials, on September 17, 2021, the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office received a report that Ms. Lopez Fernandez stole approximately $139,947.99 of funds through money orders generated while being employed at CityRx Pharmacy in Paterson.

The sentencing exposure on second-degree Theft is five to ten years in New Jersey State Prison, County authorities stated. 

Prosecutor Valdes said that Ms. Lopez-Fernandez was arrested and processed without incident and will be released on pre-trial monitoring following Central Judicial Processing Court at a later date.Ad
