Paterson Shooting Leaves One Seriously Injured on East 26th Street

Authorities are investigating a Wednesday night shooting in Paterson that left one person seriously injured.

The incident occurred around 9 p.m. near 138 East 26th Street.AdPolice responded to reports of gunfire and discovered shell casings and a vehicle damaged by bullets at the scene.

While officers canvassed the area, witnesses informed detectives that a person had been transported to a hospital by private vehicle. Authorities alerted regional hospitals to watch for potential walk-in gunshot victims.

Shortly after, around 9:15 p.m., security staff at St. Joseph’s Medical Center notified Paterson Police of a gunshot victim seeking treatment in the emergency room.

Investigators believe the victim was injured at the East 26th Street crime scene.

The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation, which remains active and ongoing.AdAuthorities are urging anyone with information to contact law enforcement.
