Investigators from the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office are investigating an overnight shooting that left one person dead in the city.
A barage of gunfire erupted in the 50's block of North 3rd Street shortly after 2 a.m. sending police to the scene to investigate.
Units arriving to the scene located a male victim suffering a gunshot wound to the head. The victim was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Police rushed a female victim to the hospital in their vehicle who was shot two times and seriously injured. There was no report of the status of her injuries as of 5:15 a.m.
Police setup a crime scene in the area where they searched for evidence and a possible suspect.
The identity of the victim has not been released at this time.
