Paterson police are searching for a suspect following a violent armed robbery that occurred on Thursday morning in one of its neighborhoods.
Officers were called to Jefferson Street after receiving reports of an armed robbery in progress shortly before 2:25 a.m.
Upon their arrival, police found a victim who had sustained injuries during the robbery.
The assailant, an armed male, had approached the victim demanding personal possessions. During the incident, the suspect not only fired at least one shot in the victim's direction but also struck them with the weapon.
After the assault, the suspect fled the scene and remains at large.
The victim was promptly taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment and is fortunately expected to recover.
In their thorough response, Paterson Police also checked area hospitals for any additional gunshot victims, but no other injuries were reported.
This incident has triggered an active and ongoing investigation.
