Paterson police are actively searching for a suspect involved in a shots fired incident at a local business early Friday morning. The shooting occurred around 2 a.m. at Backyard Tints, located at 141 West Broadway.
The Paterson Police Department was alerted to the gunfire by a ShotSpotter device, which notified officers of the incident.
Upon arrival, police discovered two shell casings at the scene but found no victims after canvassing the area.
Authorities are investigating whether this shooting is connected to a robbery that occurred at the same location the previous day.
On Thursday around noon, an armed suspect robbed Backyard Tints, stealing an unknown amount of cash before fleeing in a dark-colored Honda Accord with the New Jersey license plate "S16RPP." The vehicle had reportedly been stolen from Jersey City.
Both incidents remain under active investigation, and Paterson police are working to gather more information to apprehend the suspect.
