A Paterson police officer at the site of an crash was struck by a passing vehicle on I-80 early this morning, officials said.
The officer responded to a crash on I-80 westbound near Madison Avenue shortly before 5 a.m. to assist state police.
When the officer attempted to head towards a second crash on the highway around 5:44 a.m., he was struck by a vehicle traveling at high speed.
Despite being thrown through the air, the officer was transported to St. Joseph's Medical Center with very minor injuries, police said.
No additional information was immediately available since incident remains under investigation.
The officer's identity is being withheld.
