Wayne Police announced that a Paterson man was arrested and charged with Burglary and Attempted Theft after breaking into a buisness in the township.
According to police, on Monday, June 21, at approximately 3:34 a.m., Wayne Police Officers Kevin MacDonald and Ersan Bayram responded to a report of a burglar alarm at the Willowbrook area Starbucks on Route 23.
The alarm company also reported observing a male on camera near the drive-through window.
Police said that upon Officer MacDonald’s arrival, he observed a male inside the drive-through window who suddenly ducked down. Officer Bayram arrived and covered the front of the café until additional officers arrived.
According to police, officers MacDonald, Michael Sweeney and Trevor Costabile entered the café through the drive-through window and searched the interior. They found the burglary suspect hiding in a storeroom and took him into custody without further incident.
During a follow-up investigation by Detective Ken Hart, Starbucks management advised that over $500 was missing from registers and was found stashed in a refrigerator.
Police said that the arrested was Jonathan Roman, 35 of Paterson. He was charged with Burglary and Attempted Theft. Mr. Roman was charged on a warrant and placed in Passaic County jail pending arraignment.
