Homicide detectives are on the scene investigating an incident where a gas station attendant was killed during a robbery in the city this evening.
Police rushed to the area of 1st Avenue and East 23rd Street at around 6 p.m. after receiving reports of an armed robbery in progress.
Units arriving at the scene and found a badly injured man at that location.
The victim was rushed to St. St. Joseph's Hospital where he later died.
A male suspect was observed running from the scene armed with an AK-47 style assault rifle.
It is not immediately clear of the victim suffered a fatal gunshot injury.
The investigation is being handled by the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office.
