Police in Paterson are investigating reports of a sexual assault that turned into a carjacking overnight in the city.
Cops were called to the area of Tyler Street and Paterson Street softly before 4 a.m. of reports of a person assaulted at that location.
Police arrived to find a female victim who reported being attacked, sexually assaulted, then carjacked by a male suspects shortly before police arrived.
The suspect is described as a 5'8" black male who is stocky and around 200 pounds according to reports.
The man was reportedly wearing a white shirt, blue shorts, and red belt when he fled the scene in the woman's 2007 black Mercury Milan vehicle.
Police located the unoccupied vehicle a short distance away according to reports.
The search for the suspect is underway.
