Police in Passaic are looking into the motive behind a shooting that injured a person in the city Monday morning.
According to police, at approximately 12:30 a.m., gunfire erupted near the vicinity of Main Avenue and Chestnut Street sending police to the scene to investigate.
Upon arrival, police found an unidentified person struck by bullets at that location.
Police say officers canvassing the scene found about a half-dozen shell casings during their search of the area.
The victim was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital for treatment and remains in serious condition.
According to police, the suspect fled the scene and remains at-large.
