Passaic Man Identified as Bronx NY Murder Suspect

The New Jersey State Police have arrested Benjamin Hernandez, 27, of Passaic.

Police say Hernandez was wanted by law enforcement for allegedly shooting a man and severly injuring another on June 15 in the Bronx, N.Y.

Hernandez was charged with murder and attempted murder by the New York City Police Department.

During the investigation, State Police detectives from the Fugitive Unit were contacted by New York City Police Department detectives to assist with locating Hernandez and through various investigative means, detectives determined that Hernandez was staying at a residence in Passaic, N.J.

Police say on July 15, detectives from the Fugitive Unit, along with members of the New York City Police Department and United States Marshals NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force located and arrested Hernandez at the residence.

He was lodged at the Essex County Correctional Facility pending extradition to New York.

Charges are mere accusations and the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
