Congratulations to PCTI sophomore student Ashley Diaz Briones and PCTI Social Studies teacher Jayne O'Neil on being selected to attend the Sacrifice for Freedom: World War II in the Pacific Student & Teacher Institute this summer, reported Passaic County officials.
According to officials, the institute is a highly competitive program for high school students and educators, as only 16 of 68 teacher-student teams were selected to attend.
The institute provides an in-depth exploration of World War II's causes, events, and legacy in the Pacific.
Ashley and Ms. O'Neil will have the opportunity to learn from leading historians and participate in interactive workshops and discussions, officials say.
They will also have the chance to visit important historical sites and participate in cultural activities.
The Sacrifice for Freedom: World War II in the Pacific Institute is a National History Day program supported by the National Park Service and the National Endowment for the Humanities officials said.
Officials said PCTI is thrilled for Ashley and Ms. O'Neil to have the opportunity to deepen their understanding of one of the mostcriticalt events in world history as they represent PCTI in this prestigious program.
