Passaic County Technical Institute Honors 9/11 Victims in Moving Memorial Ceremony

In a solemn tribute, Passaic County Technical Institute (PCTI) marked the anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks with a heartfelt ceremony, featuring emotional stories from survivors and reflections from students who visited the 9/11 Memorial in New York City.

This summer, students from PCTI's Girls and Boys State programs had the chance to tour the 9/11 Memorial, where they heard firsthand accounts from museum volunteers and a survivor.AdDuring the ceremony, these students shared their reflections, highlighting the emotional weight of visiting the site and the importance of remembering that pivotal day.

One of the keynote speakers, Jason Leeds, a 9/11 survivor who was on the 74th floor of the South Tower during the attacks, delivered a powerful testimony of his experiences.

PctiHis personal account deeply impacted the attendees, offering a sobering reminder of the human cost of the tragedy.

PCTI Principal Antonio Garcia, who was near the World Trade Center when the attacks occurred, recounted his harrowing experience of trying to get home amidst the chaos.

Dr. Scott Cumberbatch, current Supervisor of STEM Humanities who was a PCTI student at the time of the attacks, shared his memories of that fateful day, while Marine Corps Sergeant Jay Gonzalez provided a military perspective on the significance of 9/11.AdThe event underscored themes of resilience, courage, and unity, with PCTI reinforcing its commitment to honoring the memory of those lost and reflecting on the lasting impact of that day.
