Passaic County Man Charged with Sexual Assaulting Child

Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes announces the arrest of Raymundo Jimenez, 35, of Passaic, New Jersey.

Mr. Jimenez was arrested and charged on April 10, 2017 with one count of First Degree Aggravated Sexual Assault; one count of Second Degree Sexual Assault and one count of Second Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child for allegedly sexually assaulting a female child when she was 10 years-old.

The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit.

Aggravated Sexual Assault carries a maximum term of twenty years in New Jersey State Prison with 85% of the sentence to be served before parole; Sexual Assault carries a maximum term of ten years in New Jersey State Prison with 85% of the sentence to be served before parole and Endangering the Welfare of a Child carries a maximum term of ten years in New Jersey State Prison.

Each of these crimes also carry the imposition of Megan’s Law and Parole Supervision for Life.

Raymundo Jimenez had a first appearance before the Honorable John F. Meola, P.J.M.C., at 1:30 this afternoon.

The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office has filed a Motion for Detention and the Motion will be heard on Monday, April 17, 2017, at 1:30 P.M., before the Honorable Justine A. Niccollai, J.S.C., New Courthouse, 77 Hamilton Street, Room 340, in Paterson.

A criminal complaint is merely an accusation. Despite this accusation, the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
