The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office is currently investigating a shooting that occurred early Monday morning in Paterson, which resulted in one person being hospitalized.
At approximately 2:40 a.m., officials at St. Joseph's Medical Center alerted Paterson police after a gunshot victim arrived at the emergency department.
The victim informed the police that the shooting took place on the 90s block of Prospect Street before he sought medical attention.
Responding officers visited the reported scene and discovered shell casings, although no additional injuries were reported.
Detectives have secured the vehicle used to transport the gunshot victim to the hospital to search for further evidence.
The investigation into the motive behind the shooting is ongoing as authorities work to piece together the events leading up to the incident.
