Police closed lanes on a portion of NJ-4 in Paramus after a violent car crash caused fatal injuries on the highway this morning.
Emergency responders and rescue crews rushed to the scene of the single car accident that occurred before 1:15 a.m. just outside the Olive Gardens Restaurant (Bergen Town Center) where they found the severely damaged vehicle with two occupants laying on the ground at that location. The car veered off the highway and ended up in the parking lot of Olive Gardens.
According to reports, both occupants were ejected from the vehicle with one of the occupants pronounced dead at the scene and the other person in "grave" condition.
The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office were on the scene attempting to gather evidence to determine the cause of the crash.
The identity of the victim has not been released at this time.
**UPDATE 6:07am** The second victim's injuries have been confirmed fatal.
