A truck that overturned and trapped two people inside on Rt. 78 in Newark had emergency responder on the scene this morning.
The crash happened on the eastbound side of the highway just at the exit ramp to Route 21 shortly before 9 a.m. according to authorities.
An off-duty law enforcement officer contacted police when he noticed the truck on it's side and stop to assist the driver and passenger out.
Newark firefighters and emergency services personnel arrived a short time later and extricated both victims authorities said.
Both victims were transported to University Hospital where their injuries were not reported as life threatening.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
