Overnight Storms Usher in Much-Needed Cooling Relief for Newark, North Jersey Region

After enduring a grueling four-day heatwave, with temperatures frequently in the upper 90s and heat indexes reaching between 102 and 105 degrees, residents in Newark and the North Jersey region can finally anticipate some relief.AdAlthough the morning remains humid with temperatures at 74 degrees as of 4:40 a.m., a noticeable cooldown is expected by this evening.

Much of the North Jersey region suffered through overnight storms that caused localized flooding and some issues, but these have set the stage for a shift in weather patterns.

According to The National Weather Service, today will be partly sunny with highs nearing 89 degrees and a mild northwest wind at 3 to 7 mph.

Tonight's forecast promises partly cloudy skies with a more comfortable low of around 67 degrees.

AdFriday is the 'pick of the week,' offering a welcome break from the intense heat and humidity.
